Half day Higüey city tour & safari

A chance to visit the closest town to the beaches of Punta Cana - Higüey, famous particularly as a place of pilgrimage to its cathedral, the basilica dedicated to the patron saint of the Dominican Republic, Our Lady of La Altagracia, which has been visited by 2 Popes.

Our knowledgeable tour guides will show you around town. You will also visit the San Dionisio church, which is over 500 years old, built in 1512.

The Basilica of La Altagracia is the highlight and symbol of the city. Designed by 2 French architects with building completed in the 1950s and visited in 1970 by the Pope. The spectacular stained glass is a particular highlight.

There are also opportunities for shopping at a local handicraft gift shop. After this, we will then head into the countryside to see how local people still live in the traditional manner in these rural areas. We visit a typical Dominican home, where you will have the opportunity of seeing some organic coffee and cocoa plantations, as well as the process to prepare the drinks with a tasting offered including their homegrown tropical fruits.
