Santo Domingo city tour

Come along with us to discover the place where history started in the New World, following the island’s discovery by Christopher Columbus in 1492.

Enjoy strolling through the atmospheric and colourful Colonial Zone, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Visit the first cathedral of the new world named Santa Maria La Menor, the Alcazar (palace) of Diego Columbus, Christopher’s son, who was island’s viceroy, Las Damas street the oldest paved street in the new world, and many of the other historical monuments of note in this area including the National Pantheon, where the eternal flame burns.

You will also have panoramic views of the downtown and residential area, Christopher Columbus Lighthouse, and the Presidential Palace.

Your best shopping option will be at the colorful market in the colonial zone. A tasty lunch is included at a typical Dominican restaurant.

This is an all-day activity and given it is a walking tour, comfortable shoes are a must!

This tour is highly recommended for those who love history and culture. You will also be taken to some typical gift shops in the colonial zone.

Take along a cover-up for visiting the cathedral, as no shorts allowed, or bare shoulders. You can wear long pants, long shorts or skirts, shirts or t-shirts. We also recommend you wear comfortable shoes.
